Welcome!

Hola and welcome to the Hiking Through History 2012 blog.  This site is created in connection with the University of Minnesota Global Seminar taught by Assistant Dean Nanette Hanks.  Twenty-two U of MN students will hike approximately 300 miles of the historic Camino de Santiago in northern Spain which follows ancient Roman roads and the pilgrimage path of the Middle Ages.  Starting in the village of Ronscesvalles on the border between France and Spain on Thursday, May 17, 2012 we will make our way across the Spanish countryside averaging about 15 miles per day as we head toward Santiago de Compostela. We will arrive in Santiago on Friday, June 8th.  This blog will chronicle our journey in words and photos.  Join us y buen camino!
